Dear Cougar Cub Families,
It is the final three weeks of school, and there is still so much learning, growth, and excitement happening at China Spring Primary! We are wrapping up end-of-year assessments and celebrating the incredible progress our Cougar Cubs have made this year. Every school day is important, and strong attendance during these last weeks helps students finish the year confidently and participate in all of the fun celebrations and activities ahead.
Thank you to all of our families for showering our teachers with love and appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week. Your kindness, generosity, and support meant so much to our staff and helped make the week extra special. We are grateful for our amazing school community!
Your Principal,
Ms. Duncan

Lockdown Drill: "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight"
CSP will conduct a state-mandated lockdown drill on Tuesday, May 19. This is a practice drill only to help students and staff review safety procedures. There is no known threat to our school.
The drill will be brief and age-appropriate.
Teachers will prepare students in advance using calm, clear language.
Normal school operations will resume immediately after the drill.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school safe.
P.E. and Playground Important Shoe Reminder
In P.E and at recess, students are required to wear proper shoes in order to participate. Athletic or tennis shoes must cover the whole foot, and be secured by laces and/or Velcro. This includes, but is not limited to, running shoes, sports shoes, or Converse.
Footwear such as sandals, flip flops, boots, Crocs, high heels, or backless shoes are not appropriate for school. Without proper footwear, students may slip, fall, get stepped on, or get wood chip splinters or ant bites on their feet. If students lack appropriate footwear and therefore can not safely participate, they will be unable to join the class activity and will have an alternate activity assigned. This is to ensure that all students are safe and keep others safe. Thank you for your assistance in helping us ensure student safety.

It's Here! This Thursday, May 14th is CSP's annual Summer Fun Day! Please watch for more information directly from your teacher regarding the activities that each grade level will participate in; each grade level is doing something a little differently. **Reminder: Unfortunately, parents are not invited to this event.
Important Safety Reminders: Please Read Carefully
Morning Drop Off : As we are preparing our first graders to move on to second grade, we are working to increase their independence and responsibility. We want to encourage students in all grades to open their door, get out of the car on their own, and shut the door behind them. If students are on the driver side, please do not allow them to exit the driver side of the vehicle. Please stay in your vehicle and someone will come help them exit safely.
Safety Concern: For the safety of all students and staff, we ask that you do not let students out of the vehicle until you are pulled up past the grass line. It is very difficult for drivers, especially those in large vehicles, to see students and staff and we have unfortunately had some very close calls.
Afternoon Dismissal : Car rider dismissal begins at 3:50PM each day and lasts about 15 minutes. If you arrive after 4:05PM, you will need to park and come inside to pick up your child at the office. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe.
Attendance Matters!
Students that are at risk of not meeting the 90% attendance law will be invited to instructional recovery time (IRT) beginning in April. IRT will be held before school and on non-instructional Fridays.
90% Law: The state of Texas requires students to be present 90% of the school year in order to receive credit for their current grade level.
Attendance is taken every day at 9:30am. Your student must be on campus at this time to be counted present for the day.
When absent: Only 4 days total per semester can be excused by a PARENT NOTE (parent signed excuse). For all absences exceeding 4, a doctor’s note or other formal documentation is required. All excuse notes must be turned in to the Front Office within 3 school days of the student’s absence.
Additional attendance information can be found in our student handbook on the CSISD website.
25-26 Bell Schedule
The instructional day begins at 7:50 AM and ends at 3:50 PM. The campus opens at 7:00 AM to begin car rider drop off.
Breakfast will be available for students from 7:00AM- 7:50AM.
The first instructional bell rings at 7:50 AM
Students arriving after this bell are tardy and must be signed in at the office by a parent
Students with excessive tardies will be ineligible to participate in campus attendance incentives.
