Dear Cougar Families,
We are enjoying the start of this beautiful spring weather as we wrap up the 3rd nine weeks of school and look ahead to spring break next week! This is such an exciting time of year, as we continue to see incredible growth in our students’ learning, confidence, and independence. Thank you for your continued partnership and support in helping our Cougar learners thrive each day.
Spring break is a wonderful time to rest, recharge, and make special family memories, but it’s also a great opportunity to keep young minds engaged in simple and meaningful ways. Here are a few easy activities you can try at home:
Read together daily — even 10–15 minutes of reading makes a big difference. Let your child choose books, signs, or even recipes to read aloud.
Math in everyday moments — count items at the store, practice adding or sorting snacks, or look for shapes and patterns outside.
Write or draw about experiences — encourage your child to create a simple journal entry or picture story about their day or a fun family activity.
Talk and ask questions — during meals or car rides, ask open-ended questions like “What was your favorite part of today?” or “What did you learn this week?”
Play and explore outdoors — spring weather is perfect for walks, nature observations, or games that build curiosity and creativity.
Most importantly, enjoy the extra time together. Everyday experiences, conversations, and play are powerful learning opportunities for children. We are so proud of all our students have accomplished this nine weeks and look forward to welcoming everyone back after break ready to finish the year strong!
Wishing your family a safe, relaxing, and joy-filled spring break!
With Cougar Pride,
Ms. Duncan

Celebrating our Staff
Thank you to those that have dropped off gift cards and small gifts for our teachers! We we able to do a staff wheel of fortune on Thursday and provide 5 of our teachers with a special prize!
One of the ways we keep spirits high on our campus is through fun staff competitions and lots of well-deserved recognition. We are currently collecting small, new gifts or gift certificates to use as staff prizes throughout the spring semester.
Gifts do not need to exceed $5—a coffee card, small treat, or simple surprise goes a long way! Donations can be dropped off in the front office at any time.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and encourage the amazing staff who pour so much into your children every day. Your support truly makes a difference! 💙

Parent/Teacher Conferences
March 27th is one of our designated parent-teacher conference days. If you are interested in a parent-teacher conference, please email your student's teacher to schedule a time. If at any time you have questions about your student's performance, please email the teacher and they are happy to collaborate with you.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Students that are at risk of not meeting the 90% attendance law will be invited to instructional recovery time beginning in April. Instructional recovery time will be held before school and on Fridays.
90% Law: The state of Texas requires students to be present 90% of the school year in order to receive credit for their current grade level.
Attendance is taken every day at 9:30am. Your student must be on campus at this time to be counted present for the day.
When absent: Only 4 days total per semester can be excused by a PARENT NOTE (parent signed excuse). For all absences exceeding 4, a doctor’s note or other formal documentation is required. All excuse notes must be turned in to the Front Office within 3 school days of the student’s absence.
Additional attendance information can be found in our student handbook on the CSISD website.
25-26 BELL SCHEDULE: Our instructional school day is 7:50am-3:50pm. Campus opens at 7:00am to begin car rider drop off. Breakfast will be available for students from 7:00am-7:50am. The first instructional bell rings at 7:50am. Students arriving after this bell are tardy and must be signed in to the office by a parent. Students with excessive tardies will be ineligible to participate in campus attendance incentives.
