Kindergarten at China Spring ISD
Starting kindergarten is an exciting step for your child, and for your family. At China Spring ISD, we work to help make sure their first experience with school is a success! This page will guide you through what to expect, how to register, and how to prepare your child for their first day of school.
In kindergarten, students build a strong foundation for future learning. Each day includes hands-on activities, guided lessons, and time to explore.
Your child will:
Learn to read and write
Practice counting, numbers, and basic math
Explore subjects like science and social studies
Build social skills - learning to share and work with others
Have experiences beyond the classroom - school is not just sitting at a desk. Students will have the opportunity to experience:
Art: Painting, drawing and more
Music: Singing, playing instruments and participating in music concerts
PE: Running and playing games in the gym
Library: Picking out books to read
Field trips: We take learning outside the classroom to visit educational places
More Than Just the Classroom
In public schools, we are committed to supporting all students, providing resources to support students and help them feel ready to learn each day.
Additional resources for students include, but are not limited to:
Free or reduced-cost meals for students who qualify
Free bus transportation to and from school
A full school year of learning at no cost to families
Sample Daily Kindergarten Schedule
7:05-7:45 am: Breakfast
8:20 am: Specials - technology, library, music, or art
9:25 am: Instruction time/Literacy small group
11:00 am: Lunch
11:35 am: Recess
12:15 pm: Math Instruction
1:45 am: Rest time
3:00 pm: Snack
3:40 pm: Walk to Dismissal
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten is free for all eligible students who live within the China Spring ISD attendance zone.
To register, your child must:
Be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the upcoming 2026-27 school year
Live within the China Spring ISD Boundaries

Kindergarten Signing Day: Kindergarten Registration Event
Kindergarten Signing Day is a fun event similar to a college athletics signing day! Students can officially sign their intent to join the China Spring kindergarten team, while parents/guardians have the opportunity to begin the registration process and meet teachers and staff.

Is my child ready for kindergarten?
At China Spring ISD, our kindergarten teachers are experienced in supporting a wide range of skills, helping every student build the confidence to succeed. Kindergarten is the place where learning begins, and students are supported as they develop new skills.
Below are some examples of skills that can help children feel more comfortable as they start school:
